Organically Capped Iridium Nanoparticles as High-Performance Bifunctional Electrocatalysts for Full Water Splitting in Both Acidic and Alkaline Media: Impacts of Metal-Ligand Interfacial Interactions

Yi Peng et al.

Summary: This study found that 4-ethylphenylacetylene-functionalized iridium nanoparticles exhibit significantly enhanced electrocatalytic activity for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions in both acidic and alkaline media. The enhanced performance is attributed to the formation of a conjugated interfacial linkage, leading to significant intraparticle charge delocalization. Experimental results were confirmed by spectroscopic measurements and density functional theory calculations.

Tuning the performance of nitrogen reduction reaction by balancing the reactivity of N2 and the desorption of NH3

Lijuan Niu et al.

Summary: Experimental and theoretical studies have shown that V-doped MoS2 exhibits better nitrogen adsorption and activation, while Fe-doped MoS2 achieves the highest ammonia yield in experiments. Thus, achieving an appropriate balance between nitrogen adsorption, activation, and desorption is crucial for obtaining highly efficient electrocatalysts for NRR.
