Magnetic Co-Pd/C Nanocomposites for Hydrogen Evolution upon the Hydrolytic Dehydrogenation of NH3BH3, NaBH4, and Me2NHBH3

Fuhua Xu et al.

Summary: In this work, magnetic Co-Pd/C nanocomposites have been designed and constructed by alloying Pd/C with Co, showing superior catalytic performance in promoting H2 evolution in the hydrolytic dehydrogenation of NH3BH3, NaBH4, and Me2NHBH3. The Co-Pd/C nanocomposites exhibited a core/shell structure and significantly decreased the activation energy of NH3BH3 hydrolytic dehydrogenation compared to Pd/C.

Single Atom Ruthenium-Doped CoP/CDs Nanosheets via Splicing of Carbon-Dots for Robust Hydrogen Production

Haoqiang Song et al.

Summary: This study introduces a composite material design with CoP nanoparticles doped with Ru single-atom sites supported on carbon dots (CDs) single-layer nanosheets, forming Ru1CoP/CDs. The catalyst shows high efficiency for the hydrogen evolution reaction over a wide pH range and excellent stability and activity. Through density functional theory calculations, it was revealed that the substituted Ru single atoms enhance catalytic performance by lowering the proton-coupled electron transfer energy barrier and promoting H-H bond formation. This research presents a new approach for developing carbon-based hybridization materials with integrated electrocatalytic performance for water splitting.

Hydrolysis of B2pin2 over Pd/C Catalyst: High Efficiency, Mechanism, and in situ Tandem Reaction

Ning Li et al.

Summary: A facile and effective method for synthesizing H-2 or D-2 from Pd/C catalyzed hydrolysis of B(2)pin(2) has been developed. The kinetic isotope effects (KIEs) and tandem reaction confirmed that both hydrogen atoms in H-2 gas are provided by H2O. Also, the hydrolysis of B(2)pin(2) in D2O provides an easy synthesis of D-2.

Pd nanoparticles supported on CeO2 nanospheres as efficient catalysts for dehydrogenation from additive-free formic acid at low temperature

Yibo Gao et al.

Summary: Pd nanoparticles (NPs)-CeO2 based catalysts were successfully synthesized, with Pd NPs uniformly dispersed on CeO2 nanospheres showing excellent catalytic performance. Increasing Pd loading amount led to improved catalytic efficiency, with the 10 wt% Pd*CeO2 catalyst exhibiting the highest activity for dehydrogenation of formic acid. The superior performance of 10 wt% Pd*CeO2 can be attributed to the high dispersion of Pd NPs, more electron-rich Pd active sites, and the Strong Metal-Support Interactions (SMSI) between Pd and CeO2.

Alkylamine-Grafted Organic Semiconductors with Plasma-Induced Defects as Electron Promoters of CO-Resistant Pd-Based Nanoparticles for Efficient Light-Driven On-Demand H2 Generation

Guofang Huang et al.

Summary: The study presented a highly efficient room-temperature photocatalytic formic acid dehydrogenation system using plasma-induced carbon nitrides grafted with aminosilanes as electron promoters for AuPdM nanoparticles. The synergistic effect of alkylamine and defective CNs with tunable band structures in the catalysts enhanced HCOOH adsorption and increased electron density of metal NPs. The optimal CO-resistant AuPdNi catalyst showed significant room-temperature hydrogen generation activity with high apparent quantum yield and turnover frequencies.

Summary: Adding nonprecious metal Co or Ni to Ru enhances the H2 generation efficiency synergistically, while alloying with Fe or Cu impedes it. Among them, Co-Ru/C exhibits the highest catalytic activity for H2 generation, with a TOF of 117.69 mol(H2)•molRu-1•min-1, significantly higher than Ru/C's 57.08 mol(H2)•molRu-1•min-1. Moreover, Co-Ru/C shows a TOF of 436.51 mol(H2)•molRu-1•min-1 (96.7 L(H2)•gRu-1•min-1) in the presence of NaOH.
