Propane Dehydrogenation on Ga2O3-Based Catalysts: Contrasting Performance with Coordination Environment and Acidity of Surface Sites

Pedro Castro-Fernandez et al.

Summary: The study investigated the coordination environment and acidity of surface sites in different Ga2O3 catalysts for propane dehydrogenation, with spectroscopic data suggesting that weak Lewis acid surface sites in beta-Ga2O3 contribute to its superior catalytic activity compared to alpha-Ga2O3 and gamma-Ga2O3.

Ordered Macroporous Superstructure of Nitrogen-Doped Nanoporous Carbon Implanted with Ultrafine Ru Nanoclusters for Efficient pH-Universal Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

Yu-Lin Wu et al.

Summary: This study has developed an ordered macroporous superstructure of N-doped nanoporous carbon anchored with ultrafine Ru nanoclusters for electrocatalytic micro/nanoreactors, showing unparalleled performance for pH-universal hydrogen evolution reactions. The superstructure exhibits significantly higher mass activity compared to the benchmark Pt/C, with remarkably low overpotential and ultra-high turnover frequency in alkaline solution.

Propane Dehydrogenation on Single-Site [PtZn4] Intermetallic Catalysts

Sai Chen et al.

Summary: The single-site [PtZn4] catalyst developed in this study exhibits high selectivity and ultra-stability, achieving over 95% propylene selectivity in a high temperature range, with no obvious deactivation observed during long-term testing. The surface [PtZn4] ensembles in PtZn IMAs serve as key active site structures, promoting the C-H cleavage of propane while inhibiting further dehydrogenation of surface-bounded propylene, thereby improving selectivity and stability.

Isolated boron in zeolite for oxidative dehydrogenation of propane

Hang Zhou et al.

Summary: Isolated boron in a zeolite framework without B-O-B oligomers exhibits high activity and selectivity for oxidative dehydrogenation of propane (ODHP). The boron-silicon bonding structure hinders boron leaching in a humid atmosphere, enhancing catalyst durability. The -B[OH center dot center dot center dot O(H)-Si](2) structure in borosilicate zeolite serves as the active center for activating oxygen and carbon-hydrogen bonds to catalyze ODHP.

Template Guiding for the Encapsulation of Uniformly Subnanometric Platinum Clusters in Beta-Zeolites Enabling High Catalytic Activity and Stability

Yajie Tian et al.

Summary: A template-guidance protocol was developed to synthesize subnanometric metal clusters uniformly encapsulated in beta-zeolite, with Pt metal clusters showing a narrow size range and a broad range of Si/Al molar ratios. The Pt clusters in Pt@H-beta are subject to strong electron withdrawal by the zeolite, resulting in excellent activity and stability in hydrodeoxygenation reactions. This study proposes a general strategy for encapsulating subnanometric metal clusters in zeolites with high thermal stability.

Propane dehydrogenation: catalyst development, new chemistry, and emerging technologies

Sai Chen et al.

Summary: The review discusses recent advances in understanding the PDH process, including emerging technologies, catalyst development, and new chemistry for regulating catalyst structures and inhibiting catalyst deactivation. Analysis and discussion on active sites, reaction pathways, and deactivation mechanisms of PDH over metals and metal oxides, as well as their dependent factors, are provided to enable efficient catalyst design for minimizing reaction barriers and controlling selectivity towards propylene. Challenges and perspectives of PDH over heterogeneous catalysts are also proposed for further development.
