Palladium-Catalyzed Asymmetric Domino Heck/Carbocyclization/Suzuki Reaction: A Dearomatization of Nonactivated Naphthalenes

Ming Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel palladium-catalyzed asymmetric domino Heck/carbocyclization/Suzuki reaction of N-(2-bromoaryl)-2-naphthylacrylamides was reported. The reaction involved a unique enantioselective dearomative 1,2-insertion of the naphthalene group, providing a novel dearomatization strategy for nonactivated naphthalenes. A new phosphoramidite ligand L12 was developed, displaying excellent reactivity and enantioselectivity in the reaction, allowing for the straightforward synthesis of spirooxindoles bearing three stereogenic centers in high yields under mild conditions.
