Tunable sub-300 fs soliton and switchable dual-wavelength pulse generation from a mode-locked fiber oscillator around 2.8 μm

Hongyu Luo et al.

Summary: This Letter demonstrates the generation of tunable soliton and switchable dual-wavelength pulses in a nonlinear polarization rotation mode-locked Er3+-doped fluoride fiber oscillator around 2.8 mu m using a LiNbO3 birefringent plate (BFP)-based Lyot filter. The wavelength in the single soliton state can be continuously tuned, while dual-wavelength synchronous mode-locking states can be observed at higher pump levels, with flexibility in switching between them by adjusting the rotation angle of the BFP. This approach opens up new opportunities for versatile mid-infrared ultrashort laser sources.
