Millisecond Conversion of Metastable 2D Materials by Flash Joule Heating

Weiyin Chen et al.

Summary: Controllable phase engineering is crucial for tailoring material properties, and a new electrothermal method called flash Joule heating has been developed to achieve rapid phase conversion of transition metal dichalcogenides. By controlling reaction conditions, different degrees of phase conversion can be achieved, providing a new approach for studying ratio-dependent properties.

Silicon carbide obtaining with DC arc-discharge plasma: synthesis, product characterization and purification

A. Ya Pak et al.

Summary: The paper presents experimental studies on synthesizing silicon carbide powder from charcoal and silicon in plasma of DC low-voltage arc discharge, resulting in a powdery product composed of graphite and cubic phase of silicon carbide. The product contains crystals corresponding to the morphology of biomorphic wood-derived silicon carbide, with a lattice parameter a = 4.359 angstrom.
