Pore Size Control via Multiple-Site Alkylation to Homogenize Sub-Nanoporous Covalent Organic Frameworks for Efficient Sieving of Xenon/Krypton

Zhimin Jia et al.

Summary: In this study, two novel sub-nanoporous COFs were synthesized and applied for the sieving of xenon/krypton for the first time. The as-prepared COFs demonstrated efficient adsorption and sieving of xenon/krypton due to their slightly larger pore sizes and good gamma-ray irradiation stability, showing great potential for practical applications in radioactive xenon/krypton separation. The multiple-site alkylation strategy proposed in this study provides a valuable approach for the construction and control of porous materials, especially sub-nanoporous adsorption materials.

Probe metal binding mode of imine covalent organic frameworks: cycloiridation for (photo)catalytic hydrogen evolution from formate

Jiyun Hu et al.

Summary: Metalation of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) is a critical strategy for advanced applications, with this study showing that imine-based COFs can readily chelate transition metals through cyclometalation, leading to more efficient catalytic hydrogen evolution. This work paves the way for exploring functional cyclometallated COFs beyond catalysis.
