A Research on the Comfort Properties of Linen Fabrics Subjected to Various Finishing Treatments

Eylen Sema Dalbasi et al.

Summary: The study aimed to enhance the thermophysiological comfort properties of shirt linen fabrics through various finishing treatments, including enzymatic, softening, and wrinkle-resistant treatments. Results showed improvements in thermal conductivity and resistance, as well as higher thermal absorbtivity and cooler feel upon initial contact with the fabric. Enzyme and treatment types had significant effects on maximum heat flow and water vapor permeability, while air permeability values were negatively impacted by finishing treatments due to high shrinkage. Overall, the most commonly used finishing processes were found to have favorable effects on thermophysiological comfort, particularly for summer use.
