Evolution of Rabies in South America and Inter-Species Dynamics (2009-2018)

Summary: The study found that during the period 2009-2018, the number of rabies cases in South America overall decreased, with livestock being the most affected, while dogs, cats, and wildlife also experienced some impact. Among human cases, 70% were transmitted by bats, and the number of human cases was significantly associated with the number of rabies cases reported in livestock, pets, and wildlife.
