This study reports the unexpected formation of two products, a dimeric technetium(I) complex [{Tc(NO)(L-OMe)(PPh3)Cl}(2)Ag](PF6) containing a central Ag+ ion, and a cationic Tc(II) compound [Tc(NO)(L-OMe)(PPh3)Cl](PF6), when [Tc-I(NO)(L-OMe)(PPh3)Cl] reacts with Ag(PF6). The products were characterized by spectroscopic and X-ray diffraction analysis.
The reaction of [Tc-I(NO)(L-OMe)(PPh3)Cl] ({L-OMe}(-) = eta(5)-cyclopentadienyltris(dimethyl phosphito-P)cobaltate(III)) with Ag(PF6) gives two unexpected products: the dimeric technetium(I) complex [{Tc(NO)(L-OMe)(PPh3)Cl}(2)Ag](PF6) with a central Ag+ ion and the cationic Tc(II) compound [Tc(NO)(L-OMe)(PPh3)Cl](PF6). The products have been studied spectroscopically and by X-ray diffraction.
