Cystectomy and ileal conduit for neurogenic bladder: Comparison of the open, laparoscopic and robotic approaches

Camille Haudebert et al.

Summary: Robot-assisted cystectomy and ileal conduit may decrease the risk of major postoperative complications, while the rate of late complications did not differ significantly between the three approaches.

The Significance of Squamous Histology on Clinical Outcomes and PD-L1 Expression in Bladder Cancer

Jennifer B. Gordetsky et al.

Summary: UC, UCSD, and SCC exhibit differences in gender distribution, risk factors, and clinical outcomes. PD-L1 22C3 and SP142 scores can predict CSS in SCC cases. Women are more likely to be nonsmokers, and patients with SCC and UCSD are typically at higher pathologic stages at the time of cystectomy.

Cancer Incidence and Mortality Rates in Multiple Sclerosis A Matched Cohort Studyy

Ruth Ann Marrie et al.

Summary: In a study comparing cancer risk in people with multiple sclerosis (MS) and those without MS using population-based data, it was found that the incidence of breast and colorectal cancers did not significantly differ between the two groups, while bladder cancer risk was increased in the MS cohort. Differences in the incidence of some cancers among MS patients may be attributed to ascertainment differences rather than actual disparities.

Robot-Assisted Cystectomy and Ileal Conduit for Neurogenic Bladder: Comparison of Extracorporeal vs Intracorporeal Urinary Diversion

Clement Mazouin et al.

Summary: The study aimed to compare the perioperative outcomes of EXTRA vs INTRA urinary diversion in patients undergoing robotic cystectomy, finding no significant differences between the two groups in terms of postoperative complications, length of stay, time to oral feeding, time to return of bowel function, and incisional hernia rates. The relative perioperative morbidity of robotic cystectomy and ileal conduit for neurogenic bladder appears limited compared with historical open series, with no clear advantage of either type of urinary diversion.

Neoadjuvant Therapy Using Checkpoint Inhibitors before Radical Cystectomy for Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer: A Systematic Review

Hadi Shsm et al.

Summary: The use of immune checkpoint inhibitors in neoadjuvant treatment for bladder cancer before radical cystectomy shows promising results, but further studies with extended follow-up are needed to determine the true impact on survival benefits.

D. F. Bajorin et al.

Summary: In a trial involving patients with high-risk muscle-invasive urothelial carcinoma who had undergone radical surgery, adjuvant nivolumab showed longer disease-free survival compared to placebo, especially among patients with a PD-L1 expression level of 1% or more, despite an increase in treatment-related adverse events.

Summary: Urinary bladder carcinomas are late events in the long-term course of SCI/D. Follow-up and approaches to screening must therefore be intensified with increasing duration of long-term SCI.
