New classifications of axillary lymph nodes and their anatomical-clinical correlations in breast surgery

Roberto Cirocchi et al.

Summary: The French group by Clough et al. and the Chinese group by Li et al. have proposed two types of classification of axillary lymph nodes in breast cancer in the last decade, identifying new anatomic landmarks for dividing the axillary space in lymph node dissection. Knowing the exact location of the sentinel node helps to focus surgical dissection and reduce the morbidity of procedures without compromising sensitivity.

Revisit the practice of lymph node biopsy in patients diagnosed as ductal carcinoma in situ before operation: a retrospective analysis of 682 cases and evaluation of the role of breast MRI

Hung-Wen Lai et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the value of breast MRI in predicting ALN metastasis in pre-operative DCIS patients, identifying pre-operative tumor size and post-operative invasive component as risk factors for ALN metastasis. The study found high negative predictive value of breast MRI in these patients.
