Synthesis of high-quality ferrovanadium nitride by carbothermal reduction nitridation method

Ying-cong Zhou et al.

Summary: This study successfully fabricated high-quality ferrovanadium nitride using the carbothermal reduction nitridation method, shortening the production process and increasing the nitrogen content and density of the products. Higher reaction temperatures were found to be beneficial for the densification and nitrogen content of the products.

Magnesium production by a coupled electric and thermal field

Hangjin Wu et al.

Summary: A novel method involving a coupled electro-thermal field was used to prepare metallic magnesium at 10 Pa pressure, reducing the reaction device temperature needed compared to traditional methods. By extending reaction time, reducing DC electric field intensity, and increasing current density, the reduction ratio of MgO was significantly increased, with higher intensities of DC electric fields required to decrease furnace device temperatures. The purity of the obtained metallic magnesium was 98.54 wt%, and the reduction mechanism was attributed to the Joule heating effect.

Athermal electric field effects in flash sintered zirconia

Jian Dong et al.

Summary: An innovative methodology was proposed to quantify the dependence of grain growth on current density during flash sintering of zirconia. By using a notch to achieve uneven current distribution, thermal and electrical field effects were decoupled, uncovering athermal electric field effects. Increased current density weakly restrained grain growth while promoting densification and defects healing.

MODELLING AND THERMAL ANALYSIS OF MICRO BEAM USING COMSOL MULTIPHYSICS

Osman Ulkir et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the design and analysis of micro beams using COMSOL software. Different metallic materials and input potentials were tested to observe the displacement and temperature variations in micro beams. Results showed that increasing voltage led to higher displacement and temperature, with aluminum demonstrating the highest displacement compared to other metallic materials.
