Cyanazine herbicide monitoring as a hazardous substance by a DNA nanostructure biosensor

Hassan Karimi-Maleh et al.

Summary: The research focused on monitoring cyanazine levels using an electrochemical strategy, synthesizing a Pt-Pd-CdO/SWCNTs composite and modifying a gold electrode for detection. The composite showed improved conductivity and lower charge-transfer resistance, allowing for monitoring of cyanazine at nanomolar concentrations. Differential pulse voltammograms indicated a linear dynamic range and detection limit, while molecular docking studies supported experimental results. The composite was successfully utilized for monitoring cyanazine in food and water samples.

Fe/N-doped carbon magnetic nanocubes toward highly efficient selective decolorization of organic dyes under ultrasonic irradiation

Fencheng Yang et al.

Summary: Fe/N-doped carbon magnetic nanocubes (Fe/N-C MNCs) as a catalyst can synergistically enhance the degradation efficiency of organic dyes with ultrasonic irradiation, primarily through a non-radical pathway. Additionally, Fe/N-C MNCs predominantly produce singlet oxygen (O-1(2)) upon H2O2 activation, contributing to catalytic degradation instead of hydroxyl and/or superoxide anion radicals.

Enhancing peroxymonosulfate activation by Co-Fe layered double hydroxide catalysts via compositing with biochar

Quanyun Ye et al.

Summary: Efficient and low-cost catalysts for peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation are essential for pollution prevention and environmental remediation. In this study, biochar (BC) was composited with CoFe layered double hydroxide (CoFe-LDH) to achieve enhanced PMS activation. The synergistic effect between BC and CoFe-LDH resulted in improved catalytic activity and stability, leading to higher production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the BC-LDH/PMS system. The degradation efficiency of dimethyl phthalate (DMP) was significantly higher in the BC-LDH/PMS system compared to the CoFe-LDH/PMS system, reaching 100% within 60 minutes.

Enhanced adsorption properties of organic ZnCr-LDH synthesized by soft template method for anionic dyes

Jia Lin et al.

Summary: The organic ZnCr-LDH (ST-LDH) was successfully synthesized using a one-step hydrothermal technique, with methyl orange acting as a soft template agent for efficient removal of methyl orange, Congo red, and orange II from aqueous solution. The modified microstructure of ST-LDH led to increased exchangeable nitrate ions in the interlayer space, providing higher adsorption capacities for the dyes. ST-LDH has the potential to be a high-efficient adsorbent for anionic dye removal.
