Evidence-based guidelines for the ultrasonic dispersion of cellulose nanocrystals

Melanie Girard et al.

Summary: Nanoparticles have unique properties driven by their size, but their tendency to agglomerate poses challenges in their use. Ultrasonication is a common method to disperse CNCs, but the lack of standardized methodology and unknown efficiency hinder industrial-scale adaptation. Numerical simulations and validation experiments are used to optimize key parameters for ultrasonic dispersion of CNCs, providing an operating window.
