Monitoring damage in composite plates from crack initiation to macro-crack propagation combining linear and nonlinear ultrasonic techniques

Hamad Alnuaimi et al.

Summary: A holistic technique combining linear and nonlinear ultrasonic techniques was proposed for monitoring damage in composite plates. By using multiple sets of specimens made of different materials, it was found that linear and nonlinear ultrasonic parameters exhibit different monitoring effects in various stages of damage progression.

Nonlinear ultrasonics-based technique for monitoring damage progression in reinforced concrete structures

Sukanya Basu et al.

Summary: This study investigates damage progression in reinforced concrete structures using linear and nonlinear ultrasonic techniques. It is found that some nonlinear ultrasonic techniques are efficient in monitoring damage progression, while changes in linear parameters are often insignificant. The new nonlinear ultrasonic technique SPC-I shows superior performance at early stages of damage, but gradually loses its advantage at higher damage stages.

Linear and Nonlinear Ultrasonic Techniques for Monitoring Stress-Induced Damages in Concrete

Anna Castellano et al.

Summary: When the stress in concrete exceeds a certain threshold, microcracks are formed and gradually develop into macrocracks, leading to the failure of concrete structures. This study monitors stress-induced damage in concrete using ultrasonic techniques, with the nonlinear ultrasonic parameter SPC-I proving to be more sensitive to changes in material structures.
