Microstructures, mechanical properties, and grease-lubricated sliding wear behavior of Cu-15Ni-8Sn-0.8Nb alloy with high strength and toughness

Jinjuan Cheng et al.

Summary: This study investigates the microstructure, mechanical properties, and grease-lubricated sliding wear behavior of Cu-15Ni-8Sn-0.8Nb alloy, finding that nanoscale compounds can strengthen the alloy. The wear rate is influenced by normal load and sliding velocity, with potential chemical reactions causing lubricant failure under certain conditions.

Effects of Cu and WS2 addition on microstructural evolution and tribological properties of self-lubricating anti-wear coatings prepared by laser cladding

Jianhui Yuan et al.

Summary: High manganese steel components coated with NiCr/TiC or NiCr/TiC-Cu-WS2 using laser cladding technology exhibit improved hardness and wear resistance. The addition of Cu reduces wear loss, while the synergistic lubrication of Cu, CrS, and WS2 significantly enhances wear resistance. Overall, laser clad self-lubricating anti-wear coatings show promising tribological performance.

Effect of ball-milling on the phase formation and enhanced thermoelectric properties in zinc antimonides

Priyadarshini Balasubramanian et al.

Summary: The phase pure ZnSb thermoelectric material was achieved through high-energy ball milling in a shorter time, showing enhanced thermoelectric properties with a thermoelectric figure of merit of 0.76 at 600 K, the highest value reported so far in binary ZnSb materials. This study provides insights into the phase evolution and improved thermoelectric properties of ZnSb materials, which could aid in scaling up the processing of high-performance ZnSb thermoelectric materials.

Effect of ball milling process on the mechanical and thermal properties of the nanodiamond/2024Al composites

Junjie Huang et al.

Summary: The addition of 5 wt.% nanodiamond significantly increases the compressive yield strength and decreases the coefficient of thermal expansion of 2024Al. High energy ball milling further enhances these properties due to the strengthening effects on the alpha-Al matrix and nanodiamond dispersion. The optimal ball milling parameters are 250-300 rpm speed and 5-7 hours time.

Tribological behavior and microstructural evolution of lubricating film of silver matrix self-lubricating nanocomposite

Xiao Kang et al.

Summary: The study aimed to fabricate a nanocomposite with low friction and high wear resistance using binary solid lubricant particles. The composition and film thickness of the lubricating film were observed and analyzed, revealing improved tribological properties such as low friction coefficient and wear rate in high-purity nitrogen atmosphere. MoS2 was found to be more effective than WS2 in forming a transfer layer during the tribological process.
