Improving the separation of chalcopyrite and galena by surface oxidation using hydroxyethyl cellulose as depressant

Bo Feng et al.

Summary: The study found that hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyethyl cellulose can play a role in the flotation separation of chalcopyrite and galena, and the combined use can achieve effective separation. A small amount of HEC can completely depress galena flotation in the presence of H2O2, while having a minimal effect on chalcopyrite flotation.

Flotation separation of molybdenite and talc by xanthan gum

Chunhui Zhong et al.

Summary: The study revealed that xanthan gum inhibited the flotation of molybdenite and talc, but molybdenite could recover its floatability in the presence of potassium butyl xanthate. The flotation separation of molybdenite and talc was achieved by the physical adsorption of xanthan gum on molybdenite and the inhibiting effect on talc, demonstrating the potential application of xanthan gum as a depressant in mineral processing.
