Carboxyl graphene oxide nanoparticles induce neurodevelopmental defects and locomotor disorders in zebrafish larvae

Zigang Cao et al.

Summary: Graphene-family nanomaterials have been widely used due to their excellent properties, but their potential toxic effects on organisms are still poorly understood. This study found that Carboxyl graphene oxide (GO-COOH) induced neurodevelopmental abnormalities and altered locomotor tendency in zebrafish. The exposure also upregulated oxidative stress and disrupted genes related to neurodevelopment and neurotransmitter pathways.
