Static and fatigue behaviours of a bolted GFRP/steel double lap joint

Zhengwen Jiang et al.

Summary: The static and fatigue behaviors of a bolted GFRP/steel double-lap joint with a clamping force of 10 Nm were investigated experimentally. The fatigue damage evolution and stiffness degradation law were obtained, along with the F-N curve and a non-linear stiffness degradation model. Comparative analysis between GFRP/steel DLJ and GFRP/GFRP DLJ indicated differences, such as longer fatigue life and smaller compressive stresses in the bolt-hole of the outer GFRP laminates in the former.

On quasi-static behaviors of different joint methods for connecting carbon fiber reinforce plastic (CFRP) laminate and aluminum alloy

Guangyong Sun et al.

Summary: This study experimentally investigated mechanical behaviors and failure mechanisms of different joint methods for dissimilar materials. The results indicated that the hybrid connection exhibited the best mechanical characteristics among the three types of joints, with an interactive enhancement effect between the rivet and adhesive. Filling adhesive in a preformed hole of the substrate can effectively disperse stress and reduce stress concentration.
