Modified hydrated sodium calcium aluminosilicate-supplemented diet protects porcine oocyte quality from zearalenone toxicity

Yao Xu et al.

Summary: Studies have shown that pigs fed with ZEN-contaminated diet exhibited increased number of denuded oocytes, decreased total number of oocytes, and higher oocyte death rate. Moreover, oocytes from ZEN-exposed pigs showed delayed cell cycle progression and abnormal cytoskeletal dynamics during meiotic maturation. Supplementing the contaminated diet with modified HSCAS effectively protected porcine oocyte quality against ZEN toxicity.

Fumonisin B1 exposure deteriorates oocyte quality by inducing organelle dysfunction and DNA damage in mice

Yue Wang et al.

Summary: This study found that exposure to FB1 affects the quality of mouse oocytes mainly by disrupting spindle structure, leading to dysfunction of mitochondria, lysosomes, and endoplasmic reticulum, and inducing oxidative stress, apoptosis, autophagy, and DNA damage in oocytes.

Ischemia-induced upregulation of autophagy preludes dysfunctional lysosomal storage and associated synaptic impairments in neurons

Xia Zhang et al.

Summary: This study revealed that in a model of oxygen-glucose deprivation, autophagy dysfunction leads to impairment of synaptic structures. Dysfunctional lysosomal storage during ischemic stress affects the balance of autophagy-lysosomal machinery crucial for maintaining neuronal synaptic function.
