Physical Mapping of QTL in Four Spring Wheat Populations under Conventional and Organic Management Systems. I. Earliness

Kassa Semagn et al.

Summary: In this study, QTL associated with heading, flowering, and maturity time in four hard red spring wheat populations were mapped and characterized using the IWGSC RefSeq v2.0 physical map. A total of 44 QTL were identified, with 15 QTL common to both conventional and organic management systems, while the rest were specific to either system. Some QTL contain known genes that regulate important agronomic traits in wheat, providing a basis for further cloning and characterization.

Phenotypic performance and associated QTL of 'Peace' x 'CDC Stanley' mapping population under conventional and organic management systems

Rongrong Xiang et al.

Summary: Identification of consistent QTL in both conventional and organic management systems is crucial for improving spring wheat through marker-assisted selection. This study evaluated 165 recombinant inbred lines for nine traits under different management systems and identified a total of 32 QTL, with some QTL common in both systems. The results will provide valuable data for wheat researchers and contribute to enhancing wheat quality.

Physical mapping of QTL associated with agronomic and end-use quality traits in spring wheat under conventional and organic management systems

Kassa Semagn et al.

Summary: This study identified 152 QTL and 22 QTL hotspots associated with nine agronomic and end-use quality traits in spring wheat populations. Two QTL with major effects were consistently detected in all environments, providing a strong foundation for further characterization and possibly cloning. The physical positions of these QTL offer valuable information for marker development and comparison across independent studies.

Genomic prediction of agronomic traits in wheat using different models and cross-validation designs

Teketel A. Haile et al.

Summary: Genomic predictions within populations show moderate to high accuracies, while across-population genomic predictions in wheat with small population size should be approached with caution. BayesB model performs well in the presence of few QTL, and cross-validation design has a significant impact on prediction accuracy.
