A diverse library of nitrogen containing heterocyclic compounds can be synthesized through the versatility of enamine intermediates and multicomponent reactions.
This review brings together the versatility of enamine intermediates and multicomponent reactions that have been coalesced to generate a diverse library of nitrogen containing heterocyclic compounds. The reactions and mechanistic pathways enumerated cover a wide range of aza-heterocycles like pyrroles, pyridines, triazoles, indoles and aza-spiro heterocycles that can be synthesized through in situ generated enamines as intermediates in multi component condensations.
