Tribological behavior of black phosphorus nanosheets as water-based lubrication additives

Qingjuan Wang et al.

Summary: Black phosphorus (BP) with a layered structure has been used as a lubrication additive, with BP nanosheets showing excellent lubrication performance in water-based lubrication additives. However, the tribological properties of BP-WL reduce gradually with increasing load due to nanosheet agglomeration. The friction reduction is primarily attributed to low interlaminar shear and adsorption of BP nanosheets, with a tribochemical reaction film effectively protecting the surface of titanium alloy/steel from wear.

Preparation of hybrid composites of PLLA using GO/PEG masterbatch and their characterization

Ioanna-Georgia Athanasoulia et al.

Summary: The nanocomposites of PEG/GO prepared by drying ultrasonically homogenized aqueous solution were incorporated into PLLA via melt extrusion, resulting in increased GO structural defects and enhanced PEG penetration. Hydrogen bonding interactions, as identified by FTIR, were found in the hybrids, while DSC tests showed that GO promoted PEG crystallization by increasing its T-c and X-c. The combination of nucleant and plasticizer in the hybrids increased PLLA's Tc and melting temperature, with GO acting as an effective nucleating agent for plasticized PLLA.

Preparation and characterisation of poly(ethylene glycol)-adsorbed graphene oxide nanosheets

Ehssan Al-Bermany et al.

Summary: This study investigates the adsorption behavior of polymers on graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets by preparing a series of PEG/GO nanohybrids with different experimental parameters. The results show that the adsorption amount of PEG onto GO is influenced by factors such as mixing time, molecular weight, mixing ratio, and washing procedure. Additionally, the adsorption onto GO reduces the crystallinity of PEGs.

Tribological behaviours of black phosphorus/MoS2 composites as water-based lubrication additives

Wei Wang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that the BP/MoS2 composites as water-based lubrication additives exhibit a good synergistic lubrication effect, significantly reducing the coefficient of friction and wear rate. Under different loads and rotational speeds, all lubricants showed a decrease in COF and wear rate. Additionally, the BP/MoS2 composites played a key role in reducing COFs and wear rates on the friction surface.
