Effect of slippage rate on frictional wear behaviors of high -speed steel with dual-scale tungsten carbides (M6C) under high-pressure sliding-rolling condition

Liujie Xu et al.

Summary: The effect of slippage rate on frictional wear behaviors of high-tungsten high-speed steel (HTHSS) under high-pressure contact was studied. The peak friction coefficient occurs at a slippage rate of 5.5%. An increase in slippage rate changes the wear failure mechanism from fatigue to scratch, resulting in a significant increase in wear weight loss. The roles of different scale M6C carbides in resisting wear were also discussed.

Role of microstructural factor in wear resistance and cutting performance of high-speed steel end mills

A. S. Chaus et al.

Summary: The wear of high-speed steel end mills is influenced by the spatial distribution of eutectic carbides, with different manufacturing methods leading to varying wear resistance. The character of eutectic carbide spatial distribution plays a major role in wear performance of HSS tools.
