Investigation of nonlinear relationship of surface enhanced Raman scattering signal for robust prediction of thiabendazole in apple

Huanhuan Li et al.

Summary: Thiabendazole (TBZ) is commonly used in agriculture to control molds, but its residues may pose a threat to humans. This study suggests the use of SERS coupled with variable selected regression methods for rapid and sensitive quantification of TBZ. The CARS-ELM model shows high correlation coefficient and low prediction error, making it a promising approach for TBZ detection in Fuji apples.

Quantification of deltamethrin residues in wheat by Ag@ZnO NFs-based surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy coupling chemometric models

Tianhui Jiao et al.

Summary: In this study, a nano-sensor using SERS-active silver nanoparticles-plated-zinc oxide nanoflowers was employed to quantify deltamethrin in wheat rapidly and sensitively. By utilizing mean centering coupled with successive projection algorithm-partial least squares regression, optimal predictive performance was achieved with low limit of detection, high recovery rates, and low relative standard deviation. The results suggested that the method could effectively quantify deltamethrin residue levels in wheat.

Total lipid prediction in single intact cocoa beans by hyperspectral chemical imaging

Nicola Caporaso et al.

Summary: The study found that hyperspectral imaging technology can accurately and rapidly predict fat content at the single cocoa bean level, even from scans of unshelled beans. The estimation of fat content is beneficial for the food industry in quality control and obtaining more consistent raw materials.

Hyperspectral imaging and improved feature variable selection for automated determination of deoxynivalenol in various genetic lines of barley kernels for resistance screening

Wen-Hao Su et al.

Summary: Fusarium head blight (FHB) caused by Fusarium graminearum leads to reduced yields and decreased grain value due to the presence of deoxynivalenol (DON). This study explored the feasibility of using hyperspectral imaging for rapid and non-destructive assay of DON in barley kernels, demonstrating potential for accelerating non-destructive DON assays of barley samples.
