Dilatational rheology of water-in-diesel fuel interfaces: effect of surfactant concentration and bulk-to-interface exchange

Shweta Narayan et al.

Summary: The study investigates the interfacial dilatational properties and dynamic interfacial tension of water-in-fuel interfaces laden with mono-olein and PIBSI, showing that the dilatational modulus of the fuel with either surfactant increases with decreasing concentration and plateaus at the lowest concentrations of mono-olein. Comparison with equilibrium surfactant parameters derived from pendant drop tensiometry suggests that diffusive exchange models based on these relationships can be used to predict the dynamic dilatational behavior of complex surfactant systems.
