Implicit and Explicit Attitudes of Employers Toward Hiring People Who Have Experienced Depression

Yvon Florence et al.

Summary: This study examined the implicit and explicit attitudes of human resources directors/employers towards potential employees who have experienced depression. The results showed that there were stereotypes and normalization attitudes in employers' implicit attitudes. It was also found that there was no relationship between employers' implicit and explicit attitudes, and that stereotypes had a stronger influence on hiring apprehensions regarding depression.
