3D, eco-friendly metal-organic frameworks@carbon nanotube aerogels composite materials for removal of pesticides in water

Wenlong Liang et al.

Summary: A novel method of loading two MOFs onto carbon nanotube aerogels was developed, showing synergistic effects between MOFs and MPCA in enhancing adsorption capacity for herbicides. The prepared MOF@MPCA demonstrated strong adsorption capability, with UiO66-NH2@MPCA showing an equilibrium adsorption capacity of 227.3 mg/g and reusability for 5 cycles. Additionally, biosafety experiments indicated that MPCA can reduce the risks of MOFs nanoparticles leakage and accumulation in organisms.

Hydrophobic nanocellulose aerogels with high loading of metal-organic framework particles as floating and reusable oil absorbents

Jiajia Li et al.

Summary: In this study, flexible and porous metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) containing cellulose nanofiber (CNF) aerogels (MNCAs) were prepared by freeze-drying MOF-containing cellulose nanofiber suspensions, and then further modified to obtain hydrophobic aerogels through chemical vapor deposition of methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS). The resulting aerogels exhibited excellent adsorption capacity, oil/water selectivity, and potential applications in environmental protection, due to their low density, high porosity, and good mechanical properties.

Photoinduced Enhancement of Uranium Extraction from Seawater by MOF/Black Phosphorus Quantum Dots Heterojunction Anchored on Cellulose Nanofiber Aerogel

Mengwei Chen et al.

Summary: The BP@CNF-MOF high-efficiency uranium adsorbents are fabricated by anchoring UiO-66-NH2/black phosphorus quantum dots heterojunctions on carboxyl cellulose nanofiber aerogel. The adsorbents demonstrate good mechanical flexibility and enhanced adsorption efficiency under light irradiation due to the excellent heterogeneous photocatalytic activity of MOF/BPQDs. The strategy could potentially be applied to enhance adsorption efficiency of other superior MOF crystals as well.
