Polypyrrole coated molybdenum disulfide composites as adsorbent for enhanced removal of Cr(VI) in aqueous solutions by adsorption combined with reduction

Li Xiang et al.

Summary: The study successfully fabricated PPy/MoS2 composites as efficient sorbents for Cr(VI) removal, showing superior adsorption capacity and cyclic stability. The sorption of Cr(VI) was significantly influenced by pH, with optimal removal efficiency achieved under acidic conditions; the adsorption process was mainly controlled by pseudo-second-order kinetics and Langmuir isotherm model; ion exchange, chemical reduction, and surface chelation played crucial roles in the elimination of Cr(VI).

Eleazer L. Vivas et al.

Summary: This study investigated the batch adsorption performance of dicalcium phosphate dihydrate (DCPD) as a potential cobalt adsorbent. Stable cobalt uptake was observed at pH 4-8, with the structure analysis revealing decomposition of DCPD during adsorption and involvement of multiple mechanisms in the process. Additionally, intraparticle diffusion contributed to the overall removal kinetics of Co2+ from water.

Coating magnetite alters the mechanisms and site energy for sulfonamide antibiotic sorption on biochar

Shanshan Bai et al.

Summary: The presence of magnetite improved oxygen-containing groups and regulation of pi-systems within biochar, affecting the sorption capacities of sulfonamides. Positive correlations were found between site energy and oxygen content or pore volume of magnetite-coating biochars, indicating potential high energy sites for pi-pi interactions, H-bonding, and pore-filling during antibiotic sorption.

Adsorption of metals from oil sands process water (OSPW) under natural pH by sludge-based Biochar/Chitosan composite

Junying Song et al.

Summary: In this study, a sludge-based biochar/chitosan composite was successfully prepared and showed excellent removal efficiency for metals (Cr, Cu, Se and Pb) in oil sands process water (OSPW). The enhanced removal ability of the composite was attributed to its improved specific surface area, pore volume, and functional groups such as NH2, -OH and oxygen containing groups. The adsorption process was best described by the Freundlich model, pseudo second order, and intraparticle diffusion kinetic models, indicating that chemical adsorption played a dominant role in the removal process.
