Efficient removal of antibiotic thiamphenicol by pulsed discharge plasma coupled with complex catalysis using graphene-WO3-Fe3O4 nanocomposites

He Guo et al.

Summary: In this study, graphene-WO3-Fe3O4 nanocomposites were used as catalysts for the synergetic removal of thiamphenicol (TAP) induced by pulsed discharge plasma (PDP). The catalytic performance was influenced by the catalyst dosage and pH value, and the degradation pathway of TAP was proposed based on the characterization of intermediates.

Accelerated Fenton reaction for antibiotic ofloxacin degradation in discharge plasma system based on graphene-Fe3O4 nanocomposites

He Guo et al.

Summary: The study focused on the use of reduced graphene oxide (rGO)-Fe3O4 nanocomposites to enhance Fenton reaction for the degradation of ofloxacin (OFX) in discharge plasma system. The rGO-Fe3O4 showed improved degradation efficiency and kinetic constant of OFX compared to Fe3O4 alone. Factors affecting OFX degradation efficiency were investigated, along with the analysis of center dot OH formation and changes in solution properties during the degradation process.

Promoted elimination of antibiotic sulfamethoxazole in water using sodium percarbonate activated by ozone: Mechanism, degradation pathway and toxicity assessment

He Guo et al.

Summary: The combination of sodium percarbonate (SPC) and ozone (O-3) was effective in enhancing the elimination of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) in water, with alkaline conditions showing the best removal efficiency. Free radicals, especially (OH)•, played a crucial role in the decomposition of SMX, and the addition of SPC promoted the production of (OH)• in the O-3 system, leading to improved elimination of SMX. The degradation of SMX and the enhancement of TOC and COD removal were observed in the O-3/SPC system, indicating the potential of this method for water treatment.
