Enhancing the reactivity of carbon-nanotube for carbon monoxide detection by mono- and co-doping of boron and nitrogen heteroatoms: A DFT and TD-DFT study

Mahdi Abbasi et al.

Summary: Boron and nitrogen doped carbon nanotubes have unpredictable reactivity in physical and chemical reactions, with co-doping of boron in para position relative to nitrogen showing significant activation for carbon monoxide sensing. Theoretical calculations based on quantum mechanics suggest potential applications for nanotube-based nano-sensors.

Kinetics of Carbon Nanotube Aerogel Synthesis using Floating Catalyst Chemical Vapor Deposition

Manishkumar D. Yadav et al.

Summary: The kinetics of formation of carbon nanotube aerogel (CNT-a) by thermocatalytic decomposition of ethanol using ferrocene and thiophene as catalyst and promoter has been studied. It was found that the irreversible dissociation of adsorbed ethanol followed by the decomposition of adsorbed ethyl group is the rate limiting step for the formation of CNT-a. Additionally, the atomic ratios of Fe/S and Fe/C were found to have profound effects on the type of carbon nanotubes present in CNT-a.

Humidity Effects According to the Type of Carbon Nanotubes

Yongwoo Lee et al.

Summary: The study investigated the humidity effects and mechanisms of semiconducting and metallic carbon nanotubes (s-CNTs and m-CNTs), respectively, in depth, and fabricated humidity sensors based on CNT network films. The sensors showed different responses to humidity, with the s-CNT-based sensor exhibiting a decrease in resistance with increasing humidity, while the m-CNT-based sensor showed the opposite trend. These findings can serve as design guidelines for CNT-based humidity sensors.
