Design and fabrication of boric acid functionalized hierarchical porous metal-organic frameworks for specific removal of cis-diol-containing compounds from aqueous solution

Wei Tan et al.

Summary: Hierarchical porous metal-organic frameworks (HP-MOFs) have been widely studied for their adsorption capabilities, and by etching acid-labile Zn-MOFs and post-modifying them with boric acid functional groups, novel boronate affinity HP-MOFs (BA-HP-UiO-66) were synthesized for specific adsorption of large cis-diol-containing molecules. This specific adsorbent showed significantly better performance in adsorbing teicoplanin compared to microporous Ui0-66-NH2, with a saturated adsorption capacity of up to 526.31 mg.g(-1).

Aptamer-functionalized metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for biosensing

Mengzhen Lv et al.

Summary: MOFs, as a class of crystalline porous materials, have been widely applied in various fields due to their nanoscale framework structure, adjustable pore size, large specific surface area, and good chemical stability. With the functionalization of aptamers, MOFs-based biosensors have shown great potential in medical diagnostics, food safety inspection, and environmental surveillance. Researchers are also exploring stimuli-responsive MOFs and the integration of MOFs on microfluidic devices for sensing applications.

Optical fiber aptasensor for label-free bacteria detection in small volumes

Monika Janik et al.

Summary: A highly sensitive device based on a microcavity in-line Mach-Zehnder interferometer induced in an optical fiber has been developed for fast bacteria detection. This device, when combined with specific low-molecular-weight bioreceptors, can efficiently detect bacteria label-free with a detection capability as low as 10 colony-forming units per mL in a sample volume of only hundreds of picoliters. The sensor is one of the most sensitive and lowest-analyte-volume label-free biosensors among fiber optical platforms.
