A novel Er3+ ions doped zirconium magnesium borate glass with very high quantum efficiency for green laser and optical amplifier applications

Summary: A series of Er3+ ions doped zirconium magnesium borate (ZMB) glasses were prepared by conventional melt quenching method. The glasses showed amorphous nature confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis and SEM imaging. Optical properties of the glasses improved with increasing Er3+ ion concentration according to the refractive index and emission spectra.
