Stability Analysis and Control of an Extended Car-Following Model under Honk Environment

Wenju Du et al.

Summary: This paper investigated the stability of an extended car-following model under honk environment based on the synchronization theory of complex network. By designing an appropriate controller, the model was quickly stabilized, and the effects of the controller on traffic flow were verified through Matlab simulations.

Summary: This study examines how the car-following behavior can be influenced by the driver's backward-looking effect by building a model and conducting stability analysis and numerical simulations. The results show that considering the backward-looking effect enhances the stability of traffic flow.

Dynamics of traffic flow affected by the future motion of multiple preceding vehicles under vehicle-connected environment: Modeling and stabilization

Jing Zhang et al.

Summary: This study constructs an intelligent microscopic model considering driver reactions to the future motion of preceding vehicles, and the analysis shows that having information about the future motion of multiple preceding vehicles can significantly improve traffic stability. Experimental results demonstrate that knowledge of the changing trend of multiple headways can smooth traffic flow.

On string stability of a mixed and heterogeneous traffic flow: A unifying modelling framework

Marcello Montanino et al.

Summary: This study proposes a method to enhance the stability of traffic flow by considering the heterogeneity of drivers and vehicles in mixed traffic. By introducing uncertain transfer functions, the research maps the probability distributions of car-following model parameters into an L-2 stability measure in order to analyze and improve the stability of traffic flow.

From homogeneous to heterogeneous traffic flows: Lp String stability under uncertain model parameters

Marcello Montanino et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the impact of heterogeneity of drivers' and vehicles characteristics on platoon stability. The results suggest that while heterogeneous platoons are generally more unstable, the degree of string instability in unstable platoons is higher in a homogeneous flow. The study highlights the importance of modeling traffic heterogeneity to accurately characterize the string stability of mixed traffic flows.
