Improving CBCT quality to CT level using deep learning with generative adversarial network

Yang Zhang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated the improvement of image quality in daily CBCT using deep learning, with 2.5 Pix2pix GAN model identified as the best model. The dose distribution showed high accuracy in photon-based planning, but further research is needed for proton-based treatment.

QCBCT-NET for direct measurement of bone mineral density from quantitative cone-beam CT: a human skull phantom study

Tae-Hoon Yong et al.

Summary: This study aimed to measure BMD from CBCT images by enhancing bone intensities based on a hybrid deep-learning model (QCBCT-NET) combining Cycle-GAN and U-Net. The results showed that QCBCT-NET significantly outperformed Cycle-GAN and U-Net in terms of accuracy and consistency in BMD quantification, improving contrast and uniformity of bone images.
