Whole Exome Sequencing Identifies Novel De Novo Variants Interacting with Six Gene Networks in Autism Spectrum Disorder

Namshin Kim et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify genetic risk factors of ASD through rare de novo variants using whole exome sequencing and genetic network analyses in Korean familial dataset. It identified 36 de novo variants potentially related to ASD, with interactions between variants commonly observed in NF-kappa B signaling pathway. The small cohort size may affect results, but the study provides insights into novel ASD genes.

A MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry-based approach for molecular profiling of leaves from pasture and feed forages species

Cinthia C. Bonatto et al.

Summary: This study compared molecular data of 20 tropical grasses using MALDI profiling, identifying specific molecular components and signal intensities. Clustering analysis revealed three major clades, recapitulating phylogenetic relationships and providing other relevant inferences. The method not only discriminates grasses, but can potentially be used for various applications such as evaluating biotic and abiotic factors, diagnosing diseases, developing weed control products, and assessing nutritional value of pastures and forages.
