Spin Fluctuations in Quantized Transport of Magnetic Topological Insulators

Yu-Hang Li et al.

Summary: In magnetic topological insulators, quantized electronic transport is affected by magnetic ordering and magnetization controlling band gaps, and thermal spin fluctuations can significantly reduce the onset temperature of quantized transport even without structural impurities. This overlooked effect provides an alternative explanation for recent experiments on magnetic topological insulators.

Critical Behavior and Universal Signature of an Axion Insulator State

Hailong Li et al.

Summary: The search for an axion insulator state in the ferromagnetic-3D topological insulator (TI) heterostructure and MnBi2Te4 has attracted intense interest recently. A systematic investigation of the disorder-induced phase transition of the axion insulator state in a 3D TI with antiparallel magnetization alignment surfaces reveals a 2D disorder-induced phase transition on the surfaces of the 3D TI. A phenomenological theory maps the random mass Dirac Hamiltonian of the axion insulator state into the Chalker-Coddington network model, providing a way to probe the axion insulator state by investigating the universal signature of such a phase transition.
