An x-ray penumbral imager for measurements of electron-temperature profiles in inertial confinement fusion implosions at OMEGA

P. J. Adrian et al.

Summary: Hot-spot shape and electron temperature are important indicators of the efficiency of converting kinetic energy into thermal energy in inertial confinement fusion. A new x-ray penumbral imager was implemented on OMEGA to diagnose these parameters with minimal variations and spatially resolved measurements. The average uncertainty of the inferred T-e is 10% with a spatial resolution of 6 μm.

Reconstructing magnetic deflections from sets of proton images using differential evolution

Joseph M. Levesque et al.

Summary: Proton imaging is a technique for imaging electromagnetic fields, but the formation of caustics has been a persistent barrier. Researchers have developed a new method to address this issue, using multiple proton images and an algorithm to provide robust reconstruction results.
