Public participation and city sustainability: Evidence from Urban Garbage Classification in China

Yunming Kuang et al.

Summary: Urban waste poses a threat to city sustainability, with the willingness of the public to participate in waste classification not always translating to actual behavior. The deviation between willingness and behavior depends on contextual factors, attitudes, and knowledge. Individuals who are more attentive to urban environmental issues and have greater knowledge about waste classification are more likely to participate.
