A novel energy storage system for latent heat recovery in solar still using phase change material and pulsating heat pipe

Pooria Khalilmoghadam et al.

Summary: This study integrated a latent heat storage unit and built-in condenser with a solar still, utilizing the dissipated latent heat of vapor during the day and transferring it to the saline water after sunset through Pulsating Heat Pipes (PHPs). The addition of phase change materials (PCM) on the condenser surfaces prevented overheating and improved efficiency, resulting in a significant increase from 23.7% to 48.5% compared to conventional solar stills.

Energy, exergy, economic and environmental assessment of using different passive condenser designs of solar distiller

Saleh Abo-Elfadl et al.

Summary: The study found that increasing the condensation rate by varying condenser design can increase distiller yield to a limit, but then decrease yield at higher condensation rates. Distiller with PHS condenser has the best production yield and lowest energy consumption.
