Safety and Survival Rates Associated With Ablative Stereotactic Radiotherapy for Patients With Oligometastatic Cancer A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Eric J. Lehrer et al.

Summary: The meta-analysis shows that stereotactic ablative radiotherapy is relatively safe and clinically beneficial in patients with oligometastatic cancer, with low rates of toxic effects and acceptable survival rates. Further research is needed to validate these findings.

Evaluation of Safety of Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy for the Treatment of Patients With Multiple Metastases Findings From the NRG-BR001 Phase 1 Trial

Steve Chmura et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the safety of SBRT for patients with 3 to 4metastases or 2 metastases in close proximity, with no treatment-related deaths. However, late grade 3 adverse events indicate the need for extended follow-up in long-surviving patients with oligometastatic disease.

Outcomes of extra-cranial stereotactic body radiotherapy for metastatic breast cancer: Treatment indication matters

Hendrick Tan et al.

Summary: SBRT treatment for metastatic breast cancer patients showed good overall survival and progression-free survival rates. SBRT can delay the start of systemic therapy for these patients.

Long-term disease control and survival observed after stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy for oligometastatic breast cancer

N. Ari Wijetunga et al.

Summary: The study found that long-term systemic disease control and survival can be achieved with SABR for oligometastatic breast cancer. Hormone receptor-positive patients with a long disease interval from initial diagnosis and limited systemic progression history may be ideal candidates for SABR to all sites of disease.
