Numerical investigation on fluid flow and convective heat transfer in a microchannel heat sink with fan-shaped cavities and ribs

K. Bala Subrahmanyam et al.

Summary: This study conducted detailed numerical simulations of liquid flow in a microchannel heat sink with four different rib geometries, comparing their fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics. Results showed that FC-RR achieved the maximum Nusselt number but lower performance due to higher pressure drop, while FC-DR offered a good balance between heat transfer and pressure drop, showing the best thermal performance.

A detailed review on research, technology, configurations and application of wire ribs as artificial roughness in rectangular solar air heater duct

Mukesh Kumar Sahu et al.

Summary: This review article provides a comprehensive overview of the use of artificial roughness in the duct of solar air heater (SAH), focusing on the application of circular shape wire ribs and their impact on performance enhancement. It details numerous experimental and analytical studies conducted by different researchers and reports correlations developed for heat transfer and friction factor in artificially roughened SAHs of different geometries. Additionally, the effects of various rib roughness parameters on heat transfer and fluid flow processes are discussed in detail.
