Two-phase analysis of nano fl uid fl ow within an innovative four-layer microchannel heat exchanger: Focusing on energy ef fi ciency principle

Nima Mazaheri et al.

Summary: The study shows that using nanofluid in a four-layer microchannel heat exchanger can significantly enhance the overall heat transfer coefficient without increasing pressure drop. An increase in channel number leads to a more severe disruption in the thermal boundary layer, resulting in improved heat transfer performance.

A combined multi-criterion optimization to determine optimum geometrical parameters for flow of an ecofriendly graphene-based nano fluid inside tube enhanced with twisted conical strip inserts

Mehdi Bahiraei et al.

Summary: The thermohydraulic attributes of a biologically produced nanofluid with graphene nanoplatelets inside a pipe with twisted conical strip inserts are optimized by adjusting the slant angle, geometry angle, and pitch. The genetic algorithm and compromise programming method are used to increase the Nusselt number and decrease the friction coefficient. In cases where the priorities of the friction coefficient and Nusselt number are similar, larger slant angles and smaller geometry angles should be utilized to achieve the optimal point where Nusselt number and friction factor increase significantly compared to a plain tube.

Experimental exergy analysis of a printed circuit heat exchanger for supercritical carbon dioxide Brayton cycles

Keyong Cheng et al.

Summary: Exergy analysis can improve the quality of energy in printed circuit heat exchangers. The study introduces experimental exergy analysis of a printed circuit heat exchanger used in a supercritical carbon dioxide Brayton cycle recuperator, showing that low Reynolds numbers and high inlet temperatures on the cold side have a positive impact on exergy efficiency. New correlations for Nusselt number and friction factor were developed based on the test results.

Modeling of energy efficiency for a solar still fitted with thermoelectric modules by ANFIS and PSO-enhanced neural network: A nanofluid application

Mehdi Bahiraei et al.

Summary: An accurate model for predicting the energy efficiency of a single-slope solar still equipped with thermoelectric modules is developed using ANFIS and PSO-enhanced ANN. Cu2O nanoparticles are utilized in the basin, and experimental data is used for training the models. PSO-ANFIS model shows superior prediction performance compared to PSO-ANN.
