One-Step, Large-Scale Blow Spinning to Fabricate Ultralight, Fibrous Sorbents with Ultrahigh Oil Adsorption Capacity

Han Zhang et al.

Summary: The study reported a highly efficient large-scale blow spinning technique to fabricate fibrous oil sorbents with ultrahigh oil adsorption capacity. By controlling the precursor solution compositions used in blow spinning, wide diameter distributions and multilevel pore structure of PS fibers were obtained, resulting in PS fibrous sponge with ultralow density and high oil adsorption capacity. Furthermore, a PVDF/PS composite package was fabricated to enhance the mechanical strength of the PS fibrous sponge, with 2.7 times the tensile strength while maintaining high oil adsorption capacity.
