Utilization of municipal solid waste incineration bottom ash (IBA) aggregates in high-strength pervious concrete

Peiliang Shen et al.

Summary: This study showed that an appropriate amount of IBA can enhance the mechanical properties of concrete, but excessive use can lead to reduced water permeability and mechanical properties. Concrete with 100% IBA can meet the required permeability and compressive strength for permeable pedestrian pavers. Furthermore, the incorporation of IBA in concrete can decrease density and improve thermal insulation.

Coal as a Filler in Polymer Composites: A Review

Orevaoghene Eterigho-Ikelegbe et al.

Summary: This review systematically presents the latest developments in using coal as a filler feedstock in polymer composites, including exploring the polymeric nature of coal and its impact on the mechanical performance of the final composite material. The review highlights the importance of coal content, structure, and the interfacial bonding between coal particles and polymer matrix in influencing the performance of the composite material. Further studies involving modeling and simulation to predict the influence of processing parameters on composite performance are recommended for future research.

Sustainable Development of Particulate Reinforced Composites by Recycling Marble Waste for Advanced Construction Applications: Ultra-low Water Absorption, Remarkable Thermal and Mechanical Behaviour

Payal Bakshi et al.

Summary: Water resistant, super thermally insulating high-performance particulate reinforced composites comprising marble waste particulates (MWP) and polypropylene (PP) were fabricated and investigated for water absorption behavior, physical and mechanical properties. The water transport mechanism of the composites was explained using Fick's diffusion law. The study is significant for practical applications in buildings and transportation infrastructures.
