Aromatic Rings as Molecular Determinants for the Molecular Recognition of Protein Kinase Inhibitors

Yan Zhu et al.

Summary: ** Protein kinases are key enzymes in signal transduction pathways, with inhibitors targeting the ATP binding site emerging as an effective therapeutic strategy for diseases. An analysis of over 2000 PKIs revealed their flat structure, high aromatic ring count, and an inverse relationship between hydrogen bond count and aromatic rings. The study also proposed exchange rules for hydrogen bonding and non-bonded pi interactions, highlighting the importance of aromatic rings in molecular recognition of PKIs.

Quantitative and Site-Specific Chemoproteomic Profiling of Protein O-GlcNAcylation in the Cell Cycle

Jialin Liu et al.

Summary: This study quantitatively profiled the distribution of protein O-GlcNAcylation sites in cell proliferation using a chemoproteomic strategy in HeLa cells. The results showed that O-GlcNAcylation is dynamically regulated in a cell cycle stage-dependent manner.
