Ferroelectric ceramic dispersion to enhance the β phase of polymer for improving dielectric and ferroelectric properties of the composites

Smaranika Dash et al.

Summary: Ferroelectric ceramic-polymer composites made of PVDF-HFP and BZT-BCT ceramics were studied for their structural, vibrational, optical, dielectric and ferroelectric properties. The interaction mechanism between filler and polymer matrix, as well as the variation of dielectric properties with filler concentrations, were analyzed to understand the enhancement of the beta phase.

Holistic investigation of the electrospinning parameters for high percentage of β- phase in PVDF nanofibers

Rahul Kumar Singh et al.

Summary: PVDF is a piezoelectric polymer with five phases, with the beta-phase contributing the most to its piezoelectricity. Researchers commonly use electrospinning to develop PVDF nanofibers-based sensors, with spinning distance found to have the most significant impact on the percentage of beta-phase. Other important parameters affecting the beta-phase percentage include the electric field, drum speed, and solution flow rate. By optimizing these parameters and developing sensors on a flexible substrate, the study achieved the highest voltage output from sensors made with 1 hour of electrospinning. This systematic study can be applied to optimize nanofiber properties in any electrospinning set-up.

Transparent flexible graphene quantum dot-(PVDF-HFP) piezoelectric nanogenerator

Simadri Badatya et al.

Summary: A highly sensitive graphene quantum dot (GQDs) reinforced poly (vinylidene fluoride) co-hexafluoride propylene (PVDF-HFP) based flexible piezoelectric nanogenerator was reported for the first time, showing significantly higher output voltage and current compared to pristine PVDF-HFP nanogenerator. The improved performance is attributed to the alignment of electric dipoles induced by the conductive GQDs, making it suitable for self-powered sensors and nano-systems power supply.

Effect of dehydrofluorination reaction on structure and properties of PVDF electrospun fibers

Yuxin Wang et al.

Summary: The piezoelectric nanosensors were prepared using a novel type of dehydrofluorinated poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) nanofibrous membrane, resulting in improved piezoelectric and energy storage properties. The introduction of conjugated double bonds to the PVDF backbone led to decreased molecular weight, solution viscosity, and hydrophobicity. The energy storage efficiency of the dehydrofluorinated PVDF nanofiber membranes depended significantly on the degree of HF elimination during the dehydrofluorination process.
