Xenophobia in the time of pandemic: othering, anti-Asian attitudes, and COVID-19

Summary: As COVID-19 cases increased worldwide, conservative elites in the US linked the pandemic to Asians, activating anti-Asian attitudes. This study analyzed the relationship between attitudes towards Asian Americans, xenophobia, concern about contracting the virus, and various behavioral outcomes and policy attitudes. The findings suggest that anti-Asian attitudes were associated with concern about the virus, xenophobic behaviors, and policy preferences.

The Persian COVID stress scales (Persian-CSS) and COVID-19-related stress reactions in patients with obsessive-compulsive and anxiety disorders

Summary: The study validated the Persian-CSS in OCD and ADs, comparing COVID-19-related stress reactions among patients. Patients with generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and OCD had significantly higher stress reactions compared to others. Patients with panic disorder exhibited higher danger and contamination fears and xenophobia than patients with OCD.
