Conspicuous genetic similarity within a widely distributed and newly described species of Parasesarma De Man, 1895 from Western Pacific oceanic islands, with notes on the allied P. calypso group (Crustacea : Brachyura : Sesarmidae)

Adnan Shahdadi et al.

Summary: Some brachyuran crab species in the Western Pacific are widespread without phylogeographic structuring. A new Parasesarma species is described here, restricted to Western Pacific islands, with genetically uniform individuals despite geographic isolation. This supports the hypothesis of oceanic islands as 'stepping stones' for dispersal and genetic homogenization.
